Experiential Learning In Action: Business Simulation In A Dedicated Financial Trading Lab To Teach Internationalization Strategies
Experiential exercises improve students’ learning by engaging them in real-world applications of concepts. This session guides participants in creating an infographic that outlines the internationalization strategy of a New Zealand company, utilizing financial and ESG data from Standard and Poor’s (S&P) business intelligence platform Capital IQ Pro. It will be held in a dedicated financial trading lab teaching space, the BNZ Financial Trading Room, New Zealand’s largest simulated financial trading room. Participants of the workshop session will assume the role of business consultants aiming to develop sustainable business strategies. The exercise is part of an undergraduate course that focuses on addressing global challenges, such as climate change, the future of work, and global competition. This activity can also be adapted for other courses at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels with the aim of developing skills such as ethical decision-making, problem-solving, critical thinking, teamwork, and the ability to interpret and present business information.
