Developing Students' Networking Skills Efficacy
Despite its significant impact in one’s career, the physical practice and development of networking skills efficacy as a propellor of social capital, is under studied within management classrooms. To address this gap, this session proposes practical workshop exercises aimed at enhancing undergraduate students' networking skills and integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application. The pre-workshop tasks, including readings and videos, provide a foundational understanding of social capital and networking dynamics, while the workshops facilitate experiential learning through interactive drama and role-play networking scenarios. Using drama as the instructional tool, students practice active listening, conversational techniques, and effective self-presentation skills that are essential for effective networking in professional settings. The incorporation of peer feedback and self-reflection promotes collaborative learning and help students identify areas for improvement. This approach can help prepare students for improved professional interactions and foster their networking skills efficacy and readiness for the workforce.
