More Than Assessment Resilience: Partnering With Students As Producers To Inspire Deep Learning and Teamwork In The Classroom and Beyond

This session explores the transformative impact of partnering with students as content producers through video-based assignments and engaging them in learning by teaching. By positioning students as active creators and partners, the UPSKILL in-class assessment and “We like to movie-move it!” beyond the classroom project foster deep learning, resilience, and positive attitudes towards teamwork and communication among student-partners and students they interact with. The approach integrates visual literacy, critical thinking, and creativity, addressing evolving educational needs in an increasingly digital world. Attendees will gain insights into implementing student-centred learning that extends beyond traditional assessments, highlighting practical outcomes and lessons learned to inspire improved assessment practices in higher education.
