“What’s The Tea?” Teaching Students The Art of Asking The Right Questions

Asking the right questions is a critical skill for graduating students as they transition from academic settings to an evolving market with numerous career opportunities. However, traditional education often emphasizes rote learning over essential skills like inquiry. This paper introduces "What’s the Tea?", an exercise designed to enhance students’ questioning abilities by fostering curiosity and critical thinking. Teams of students decode another group’s preferred tea choice using only three questions. By mastering the art of asking the right questions, students are better equipped to make informed decisions about emerging career opportunities and successfully navigate the complexities of the modern workplace.
