Enhancing Student Motivation, Belonging, and Curiosity Through An Industry Guest Speaker Series

This activity session introduces an evidence-informed classroom exercise that integrates industry guest speaker sessions into business courses to enhance student motivation, belonging, and social capital particularly among international postgraduate students. The exercise draws on the MGMT5601 Global Business Environment course at an Australian university and demonstrates how authentic engagement with industry professionals bridges theory and practice. Participants will learn how to implement, facilitate, and debrief similar activities in their own classrooms. The session provides practical guidance on logistics, materials, and reflection templates that enable participants to adapt the approach to their own teaching contexts.
