“Yes, And…”: Using Improv To Launch High-Performing Teams In Week One
This interactive session introduces management educators to an improv-based activity designed to help newly formed student teams develop communication skills, trust, and collaborative capacity during their critical first week together. Drawing on improvisational theatre principles, the exercise uses engaging scenarios to break down interpersonal barriers and establish positive team dynamics within 20-30 minutes. Participants will experience the activity firsthand, learn facilitation techniques, and receive ready-to-use materials for immediate classroom implementation. The session is suitable for instructors teaching undergraduate and postgraduate management courses requiring team-based learning across diverse educational contexts.
