Using technology to increase engagement in large synchronous learning environments

Abstract: Engaging students in their learning within the classroom is important in all forms of delivery. Technology is often promoted as a means of creating and maintaining student engagement. In this workshop we explore how the Socrative platform can be used in the classroom to engage students in learning. This platform moves beyond mere polls and quizzes offering open ended text based contributions, providing meaningful insights to the student’s understanding content. By the end of this workshop participants will have experience with the platform both as a student and as a teacher.
