Workplace Harassment: Preparing Students For Reality Through Virtual Reality

Abstract: With funding provided by eCampus Ontario, we developed a Virtual Reality (VR) simulation that allows students to experience the effects of a toxic work environment on their decision making and teaches them strategies to use when encountering or observing sexual harassment and racism at work. In this session, we will survey participants’ experiences with VR, discuss the benefits of VR, demonstrate the VR simulation, and facilitate conversation around uses for this VR tool and others. This session may appeal to instructors who cover workplace harassment in undergraduate or graduate courses and those interested in enhancing technology use in the classroom.
