Effective Usage of Virtual Reality and Learning Analytics to Improve Student Engagement in and beyond the Classroom

Keywords: Virtual Reality and Learning Analytics in the Classroom, Technological Innovation in Higher Education, Student Engagement and Performance

Session Type: Case Studies

Abstract

Universities have to be highly adaptable to the changing technological landscape in order to motivate students. Virtual Reality (VR) training offers students immersive learning experiences, whereas learning analytics (LA) tools provide them with the opportunity to track their personal learning progress. Until now, little attention has been paid to the combination of VR and LA within a practical application which can be used by teachers and students effectively. This case study aims to present an inspiring ‘best-of-collection’ of useful technology-driven approaches which can be used by educators anywhere. Furthermore, it seeks to provide teachers with new ideas helping them to re-invent their teaching methods.
