Why Attend MOBTS?
MOBTS is one of the best values you will find at any conference of any kind, as we offer an all-inclusive registration fee for those that reside on campus. For those that opt for hotel accommodations, your registration fee still covers everything aside from your accommodations costs.
The Society’s Board of Directors strives to make its conference as cost-effective as it is engaging and experiential. With that, the registration costs for OBTC 2018 at Coastal Carolina University (Conway, South Carolina) will remain as they have been for the past six years.
Your registration options will be:
$ 650.00 GENERAL – Single Room
$ 525.00 STUDENT / RETIREE – Single Room
$ 490.00 GENERAL – Commuter
$ 390.00 STUDENT / RETIREE – Commuter
GUEST REGISTRATIONS (Authors cannot be registered as guests)
- Guest Registration w/ Housing ($400) – Includes on-campus housing, all on-campus meals, Thursday Event, Friday Awards Banquet, and Jim’s Place each night. Conference authors/presenters cannot be registered as a guest.
- Guest Registration as Commuter ($200) – Includes Opening BBQ, Thursday Event, Friday Awards Banquet, and Jim’s Place each night. Conference authors/presenters cannot be registered as a guest. Does not include on-campus housing, breakfasts, or lunches.
As is becoming more customary with University housing, and as MOBTS has experienced in recent years, there is no cost-benefit to MOBTS or the attendees for doubles. Universities are now charging per person, not per bed, thus whether desiring a single or double room, the registration price will be the same moving forward. If you desire to sleep in a double room with someone, please leave such a note in the Suitemates text box below.
We are able to offer additional nights for both pre- and post-conference stays at a rate of $60/night. This cost is for housing only and does not include any additional meals beyond what is included in pre-conference and general conference registration.
The nights we are able to offer you to extend your stay are:
- Sunday, June 3rd
- Monday, June 4th
- Tuesday, June 5th
- Saturday, June 9th
Refunds will be provided if notice is provided to Brandon Charpied (firstname.lastname@example.org) prior to 30 days from the start of the pre-conference (Monday of conference week). No refund can be provided at 30 days onward due to all conference expenses already having been incurred by the conference and Society.
In addition, you can register for either of our Pre-Conference Workshops – the Doctoral Institute and the Early Educator Institute. These two programs require arrival by 3pm on Tuesday, June 5th for an opening ice breaker session. That is followed by a meet-and-greet reception with the MOBTS Board of Directors, and then an off-site dinner with your fellow workshop attendees. Housing accommodations are included, as are breakfast, lunch, and breaks the following day. The workshops themselves take place all day Wednesday up until the opening BBQ at 5:00pm.

They’ve said about us
It was a spectacular experience for me in terms of capturing new ideas, building relationships, learning from extremely bright and energetic graduate students and faculty colleagues, and sharing an intimate setting for a couple days . . . a true delight.
MOBTS has offered me the opportunity to network with others interested in pedagogy, to explore ideas with academic experts, and connect with a tremendous group of colleagues.
You always walk away from the MOBTS Conference with innovative ideas and ways to implement them in the classroom, as well as a few new great colleagues to add to your list of friends!
As a conference attendee since 1981 at Harvard, and now even after my “retirement ” from full time teaching, the conference is one of my go to/don’t miss summer events. Reconnecting with long time friends ( one of my BFF I met at Harvard), meeting and even rooming with first timers and loving the great sessions, the learning about teaching and discussing the world and our lives. Best is the feeling of “coming home.” Kudos to everyone for keeping the spirit!
