Hosting a Collegiate Leadership Competition

Hosting a leadership competition is a great way to bring excitement and energy to your campus, and showcase it, while also supporting leadership education and development.

CLC seeks hosts in multiple regions around North America. MOBTS and CLC do not expect a host institution to incur any non-internal expenses (i.e. MOBTS will cover all food & beverage expenses, activity supply costs, etc.). MOBTS only encourages host sites to provide session spaces for a single Saturday at no cost to the organization.

Generally speaking, regionals hosts operate in the following areas within the USA and Canada:

We are always willing to consider sites even when there might be regional overlaps depending on the regional sites we have lined up. For example, if a Northeast USA regional was hosted in Portland, Maine and a Southeast USA regional was hosted in Jacksonville, Florida, it would open up the possibility to host a Mid-Atlantic regional between the two Eastern seaboard sites.

So, what does it take to be a host? There are a few prerequisites for any site to be considered, as well as strong preferences beyond such:

Prerequisites:

  • Ability to host on a Saturday (typically in March);
  • Availability of a general session space that can accommodate at least six (6) roundtables of eight and up to twelve (12) roundtables of eight;
  • Ability to have food (breaks, lunch) catered into general session space or ability to use on-campus dining hall facilities.

Preferences - Greater consideration will be provided to prospective host sites that can provide the following:

  • General session space at no rental cost to CLC;
  • Campus located in area of high density / regional proximity to other institutions to draw from;
  • Additional student/staff support that can be provided to assist in competition efforts leading up to and during the event.
