Getting to Area from Frankfurt Airport

Note: It is strongly recommended that you fly into Frankfurt if attending this conference is your primary focus. We encourage all attendees to appreciate all Germany has to offer, however. All information below is only relevant to flying into and out of Frankfurt.

From Frankfurt am Main Hauptbahnhof to Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof
Frankfurt am Main is connected to Frankfurt Airport. You may purchase your train ticket after clear customs and departing the airport. Please note that some trains are direct to Heidelberg while others require changes in Mannheim.

  • By Train: If you pick up a train that takes you directly from Frankfurt am Main to Heidelberg, it will be an approximately 51 minute train ride. Alternatively, your train may require a switch at Mannheim Hauptbahnhof, from which you will need to take the S1, S2, or S3 train to Heidelberg Bahnhof. This trip that requires a switch takes slightly over one hour. As of March 19th, the direct line departs Frankfurt am Main at 20-minutes after the hour every hour. If you have 30 minutes or less to wait for the next direct line, we recommend you do so.
    • The cost of this one-way ticket is 18€ to 28€, depending on peak hours, connections, etc.

From Frankfurt am Main Hauptbahnhof to Mannheim Hauptbahnhof

    • The cost of this one-way ticket is 18€ to 28€, depending on peak hours, connections, etc.

Area Hotels

Note: While Seckenheim is physically closer to Heidelberg than Mannheim's city center, it is not recommended that you stay in Seckenheim if you are relying on public transportation due to the changes required in buses and trains. Heidelberg has more hotels than Mannheim, so we recommend you focus your efforts on booking there. In addition, we recommend you booking hotels that have free cancellation, even if that option comes at a slightly higher rate. As we are all too aware over the last 2+ years, the unexpected happens. Please protect yourself against such when and where you can.
