vMOBTS 2021 Program Chair, Kenneth Mullane

Ken Mullane, Salem State University

With the change from hosting at Cal Poly Pomona to a virtual conference, there is also a necessary change in the position of program chair. We are proud to announce that Ken Mullane (Salem State University) has joined the MOBTS Board through June 2021. Ken is a former winner of the prestigious MOBTS New Educator Award, a facilitator in our Doctoral Institute program, and has been a sitting member on the MOBTS Finance Committee since 2019. Ken’s experience within and commitment to the organization, as well as his tremendous engagement in our conferences and events over the years make him a fantastic fit for this role.

We are excited to announce that Ken’s theme for vMOBTS 2021 is Tradition Meets Technology: Finding Ways Forward

The reality is that no matter how much we long for the past, our traditional ways of teaching and educating will forever be changed due to COVID-19. Technology was already an ever-increasing aspect of the classroom, yet the pandemic thrust it to the forefront of most every way we now operate. While we hope – and believe – that there will be a return to normalcy and more traditional ways of educating in the near future, there is little chance that at least some remnants of this technology-centric adaptation and transformation we’ve experienced by way of COVID-19 will remain within our classrooms and be expected moving forward by our students. By the time vMOBTS 2021 rolls around, most attendees will have been largely virtual for over a year. No longer novices but now experts. So how do we best utilize this new and current skill set? What path do we take forward in a merger of approaches old and new? What trails might we blaze together? Join us at vMOBTS 2021 as we explore these new territories of teaching.
